CAS has registered two new cases involving French athletes

CAS | News on Thursday, 02 August 2012. Hits 745

The modern pentathlete Jean-Maxence Berrou and the French Modern Pentathlon Federation (FFPM) request the CAS to order the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) to allow J.-M. Berrou to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games further to the withdrawal of the Polish athlete Lukasz Klekot. Following a decision of the UIPM, Klekot was replaced by the Irish pentathlete Arthur Lanigan-O'Keefe. The CAS will hear this case in the afternoon of 3 August 2012 and issue a final decision quickly thereafter.

The French runner Nour-Eddine Gezzar (3000m steeplechase) has filed an application against the French Athletics Federation (FFA) following his provisional suspension further to a positive doping test for EPO at the recent French Championships. Gezzar has been removed from the French Athletics team and his accreditation has been removed by the French NOC. The athlete considers that errors were committed during the anti-doping control procedure and requests to be re-admitted on the start list of the 3000m steeplechase heats of 3 August 2012. The CAS will hear this case this afternoon and issue a final decision in the evening.
