What are the current opportunities and challenges that sports betting brings to global sport?
published on 31 August 2017
There are a wide range of approaches to the regulation of sports betting as well as how sports organisations engage with the betting and gaming industry globally. In some markets sports betting is legalised whilst others it is not. As the USA, the world's largest economy, appears to be on the brink of embracing sports betting - we look at what the current threats and opportunities for the sport that is the sports betting brings. This is set against the backdrop of the recent termination of the Football Association’s sports betting partner and a number of high profile athletes who have been speaking out the contradictory natures of sports betting advertising and regulation that prohibits athletes from betting on sport.
At the LawInSport Annual Conference a distinguished panel of the global experts in the field will share their insights into global sports betting. It is a panel not to be missed:
Daniel Wallach, Gaming and Sports Law Attorney at Becker & Poliakoff
Carlos Schneider, Disciplinary Lawyer at UEFA
Christian Keidel, Partner at Martens Lawyers Germany
David Lampitt, Managing Director Group Operations at Sportradar AG
Tom Russell, General Counsel at Genius Sport
The panel promises to keep your organisation’s finger on the pulse of legal issues impacting global sports betting.
