Italy certainly represents one of most important sports realities worldwide.

Sport in Italy has been made increasingly professional over recent years making all stakeholders aware of the growing relevance of sports law.

At the same time, we have to report, alongside the prestigious sporting results, the  explosion of severe scandals, particularly in professional football, leading to proceedings by sports governing bodies  and civil and/or criminal proceedings as well. The number of cases is increasing so dramatically - with match-fixing alone(!) - that such a situation has been defined as "legal doping", due to the excessive presence of lawyers within the sporting arena.

As a result opinion offered by sports law experts in Italy will be of great interest and value: accordingly, we came up with the idea of creating a specific blog on sports law issues - entitled "Italian Sports Law Blog" - as edited by the eminent Sports Law Research Center of Milan (Director Prof. Lucio Colantuoni).

Therefore, this new LawInSport blog will be  inspired by the recent Italian sporting events and the most intriguing cases and regulations as well, with the aim of providing a complete framework of the legal issues surrounding the world of Italian sport.
