Wembley National Stadium Trust
London, United Kingdom
Voluntary (with expenses paid)
3-4 days per year. Trustees are usually appointed for 3 years, which is renewable
WNST is an independent charitable grant-making foundation (reg charity 1072392, reg company 3667982), distributing (pre-pandemic) around £1m per annum through targeted programmes which seek to enhance the range and quality of community sport activities available to people of all ages and abilities. The funding derives from an agreed annual slice of Wembley Stadium’s income.
We live in a world rich with a diversity of people and communities, in which we can all improve our physical and mental well-being through participation in sport. WNST aims to use all of its resources – our money, our people and our knowledge – to help create equitable and inclusive sporting opportunities for every individual; levelling the playing field and breaking down barriers to participation. Achieving this will benefit us all.
We are now seeking to make new trustee appointments, to add fresh skills, knowledge and experience to our board. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of the country’s high-profile charitable grant-makers within the field of sports and physical activity.
The Trust is London-based, with a specific interest in the London Borough of Brent, where Wembley Stadium is located, but we also operate within a national remit and our existing trustees live around the country. We are keen to ensure that our Board reflects the wide diversity of the communities we serve, and are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in everything that WNST does, from our Board of Trustees to participants engaging in funded activity. We are an equal opportunity organisation and welcomes applications from all sections of the community, and appointments will be made based on merit.
As a WNST trustee, you will understand the role that sport can play in promoting better physical and mental well-being, reducing social isolation and improving lives within local communities. But most of all, we want your enthusiasm, professional expertise and passion for grassroots sport. Experience as a trustee, whilst not essential would be an advantage.
Our expectation is for trustees to commit to 3-4 meetings per annum, held in London, plus the chance to visit projects and attend other occasional events. The role is voluntary but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are payable. We also offer training opportunities to ensure you can fulfil your role to the best effect.
