IMG's Media and Events business is seeking a commercial lawyer/Associate Counsel to be based out of their Chiswick Park office.

The role reports to the SVP Legal and is an individual contributor role.

The commercial lawyer will be required to handle his/her own caseload whilst assisting other lawyers as and when required. As such the role is looking for lawyers who seek responsibility, are team players, and have a positive attitude. Experience in commercial contracts is desirable. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Supporting the Media and Events divisions of the business by providing commercially sound advice on legal issues in relation to commercial and revenue-generating opportunities
  • Pro-actively working with the legal team (London and International colleagues) to ensure that best practice and knowledge is understood, shared and utilised amongst the team
  • Advising clients on terms that are as robust and favourable as possible to IMG
  • Supporting other colleagues in the Legal team with researching points of law as and when required
  • Liaise with the business so that commercial, pragmatic and salient advice and guidance on business opportunities can be followed at all times
  • Working pro-actively and closely with the business to ensure that colleagues are aware of the importance of involving the Legal team at the outset in any commercial opportunity or discussion
  • Assisting with new projects as and when appropriate

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience


  • Qualified lawyer who has worked in a commercial environment


  • Experience of drafting commercial contracts is desirable
  • In-house legal experience within a media and sports organisation
  • Has an interest in sport

Skills and Abilities


  • The ability to assimilate and understand salient points of commercial opportunities with both speed and accuracy
  • Excellent written and spoken English with a meticulous attention to and for detail
  • Ability to juggle and prioritise a varied and heavy workload with the ability to plan ahead
  • Able to work to deadlines with efficiency and accuracy;
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients of all levels both internally and externally;

  • Fully qualified Solicitor

Working Conditions

  • This is a permanent position based in our Chiswick Business Park location,
  • Please note that there is a remote working from home set up until lockdown restrictions have been lifted.
  • Working hours are 9am – 5pm , Monday to Friday, however, flexibility will be required to fulfill the duties of the role
