John Loffhagen joined City law firm, Gouldens, in 1990 and spent 8 years as a corporate/commercial lawyer doing a mixture of flotations, acquisitions, joint venture and commercial work. In 1998 he joined IMG to handle a series of acquisitions in the football sector and became head of legal for EMEA in 2000. John was one of the principal executives who worked on and created the Indian Premier League in 2007/8 (handling all rules, regulations, player, franchise and commercial contracts) and remained involved in the IPL until June 2018. From 2010 his other main project was IMG’s joint venture in India with Reliance Industries where he helped to create the Indian Super League which launched in 2014. John is now a consultant with UK law firm Onside Law and also pursues a number of projects in India, including for The Indian Federation of Sports Gaming.
