Hongjun Yao is a lawyer focusing on trademark law with Watson & Band Law Office, Shanghai, China and an associate professor at Shanghai University of Political Science & Law.
He has practiced as a lawyer in Beijing and Shanghai since 2015, with experience of all kinds of intellectual property cases and some landmark trademark cases. He has published a book on well-known trademarks and some articles in journals on the distinctiveness of marks and other trademark law issues.
He had been a visiting scholar at The George Washington University Law School for more than a year. He got his Ph.D. in Law from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), where he was tutored by famous Chinese intellectual property law scholars Prof. Zheng Chengsi and Prof. Li Shunde. He got his Judicial Master Degree from School of Law, Renmin University of China. He has a B.E. diploma in Harbor & Waterway Engineering from Hohai University.
