He also practices in sports law and health care enforcement defense. Randy has tried federal cases before juries involving white-collar fraud schemes, financial crimes, complex criminal conspiracy cases, immigration and violent crime matters; authored and argued numerous appellate briefs; and successfully negotiated guilty pleas in hundreds of other federal criminal cases.

Randy works closely with clients to develop and implement crisis management plans to help avoid costly business disruptions, negative publicity, lawsuits and government investigations.
Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Randy served for almost three decades as an Assistant US Attorney in the US Department of Justice. As a federal prosecutor, Randy was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of cases involving various fraud schemes, financial crimes, complex criminal conspiracies, and immigration and violent crimes. Randy tried more than 50 trials before juries in federal court, and directed numerous other federal investigations in enforcement matters concerning securities fraud, tax fraud, bankruptcy fraud, mail and wire fraud, Hobbs Act extortion cases, trademark violations, and compliance. Randy’s experience conducting federal grand jury proceedings gives him invaluable insight into the needs of institutional and corporate clients facing sensitive and high profile internal investigations.
Randy graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, and honorably served his country for almost thirty years as an active duty and reserve officer in the US Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. As a military lawyer, Randy distinguished himself as an outstanding trial attorney and trusted legal advisor. During his military career, Randy was responsible for the prosecution and defense of over 200 felony jury trials, and he provided expert legal advice and counsel to senior US Navy officers and executives on a wide variety of military, domestic, and international legal matters.
