Lausanne, 23 July 2021 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued its decision in the arbitration procedure between South African race walker Lebogang Shange and World Athletics (WA):

  • Following a positive test with trenbolone (anabolic steroid), Lebogang Shange is found to have committed anti-doping rule violations pursuant to Rule 2.1 and Rule 2.2 of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules in force from 1 November 2019.

  • Lebogang Shange is sanctioned with a four-year period of ineligibility, commencing on the date of the present Award. The period of ineligibility served during the period of provisional suspension imposed on Lebogang Shange from 19 December 2019 until 7 June 2021 and from 30 June 2021 through the date of the CAS award shall be credited against the total period of ineligibility.

  • All the competitive results obtained by Lebogang Shange from 4 November 2019 are disqualified, with all the resulting consequences, including the forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, points and prize and appearance money.

The CAS Panel has issued its decision only, without the grounds which will be notified in short order.
