John Mehrzad

Barrister, Littleton

John is Head of Littleton's Sports Law Group. He was an advocate at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, has been appointed an FA arbitrator and panelist for Sports Resolutions, a leading sports mediation service. He also writes regularly for the World Sports Law Report. John is a former international and multiple national rowing champion. 

Recent instructions include:

  • Currently instructed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in dispute over commission due to a registered agent following player transfer
  • Currently instructed in High Court dispute over options agreement between club and sponsor over FA Cup Final tickets (led by Andrew Clarke QC)
  • Premier League Managers Arbitration over termination payment due to a Premier League manager (led by Damian Brown QC)
  • Crross-border image rights agreement dispute between former Premier League player, club and agent (led by David Reade QC and Damian Brown QC)
  • Allardyce v. Blackburn Rovers & Kean Defamation action by Sam Allardyce. Agreed statement read out in open Court
  • Slough RUFC v. Milton Keynes RUFC RFU De Novo Hearing into allegations of racist abuse during a match
  • RFU v. Bristol RFC RFU Disciplinary and Appeal Panel hearings following brawl
  • Steve Kean's resignation from Blackburn Rovers
  • Advisory work for Liverpool FC reviewing the Luis Suarez affair
  • Investigations for QPR into the conduct of Joey Barton
