BHA confirms changes to the Rules of Racing

BHA Disciplinary - Cam Hardie

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority convened on Thursday 8 July 2021 to hear an Appeal brought by Cam Hardie, a licensed jockey, against the finding of the Stewards at Newcastle racecourse finding him in breach of the Rules of Racing prohibiting Improper Riding and imposing a penalty of a suspension of 4 days.

 30/03/2021 @ 13:00:00 Adrian McCarthy The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) convened on Thursday 25 March to consider whether Mr Adrian McCarthy was in breach of Rule (K)49 of the Rules of Racing.

1. On the 25 March 2021 the above Panel convened to consider whether the above named, a licensed professional flat Jockey, was/is in breach of the above Rule in that he failed to ensure that on the 15 October 2020 when he rode FAREGAAN in the 20.30 at Chelmsford Racecourse that no banned substance was present in his body. In fact, after analysis of a sample taken from him, a high concentration of metabolites of cocaine was found.

Updated Covid-19 Guidelines and Operating Procedures for race meetings from 19 July

The BHA has today shared updated COVID-19 Guidelines and Operating Procedures that will apply at British race meetings from Monday 19 July 2021.

This follows the publication yesterday of specific guidance for sports and large events in England, and announcements from the Scottish and Welsh Governments about their own plans for easing COVID-19 measures.
