ESPN to broadcast Super Wild Card Weekend's Monday night game for next five years

The inaugural Monday wild-card playoff game will be broadcast by the home network of Monday Night Football.

ESPN announced Wednesday it has won the rights to host the finale of Super Wild Card Weekend for the next five years. This season's offering, the league's first scheduled weekday prime-time playoff game, will be played on Jan. 17, 2022.

Whilst spectators may not be able to attend Tokyo 2020 in person, fans around the world and in Japan will be able to experience the thrill of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 thanks to new, innovative technologies. Tokyo 2020 will be broadcast globally to a potential audience of over 5 billion people, with more coverage by broadcast partners than any previous Olympic Games across both linear TV and digital:

  • In Japan, TV coverage of Tokyo 2020 is expected to be around double that of Rio 2016.

  • In the USA, NBCUniversal will air more than 7,000 hours of coverage across TV and digital platforms – a US Olympic record. 

  • Across Europe, Discovery Eurosport will air up to 4,000 hours of live coverage on its TV and digital platforms. This unprecedented level of content will be available in 50 territories.

US Supreme Court rejects NFL appeal against antitrust lawsuit

The US Supreme Court has refused an NFL and AT&T Inc’s DirecTV appeal which called for the court to overrule a lower court decision to revive a lawsuit that accuses them of overcharging for a satellite television package, meaning the lawsuit can move forward.

FIFA awards FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ media rights in Poland

FIFA has awarded the exclusive rights in Poland to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ to Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group). NENT Group will show every match from the 2023 edition in Australia and New Zealand, the biggest event in the international women’s game, on its Viaplay platform in Poland.
