NBA athletes Robert Covington and Luol Deng partner with Own Our Own to initiate community development project in the south side of Chicago


Own Our Own, an inner-city focused real estate fund, today announces its first Chicago-based project in partnership with Houston Rockets forward Robert Covington and former Chicago Bull and 2-time All-Star Luol Deng. Former players Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Matt Barnes are also investor-partners. The impact investment project aims to transform a South Side of Chicago neighborhood through an affordable housing and community development initiative that will improve quality of life through increased public safety and access to critical social services.

FIBA's Foundation launches new "Basketball For Good" platform


MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA's Foundation, the International Basketball Foundation (IBF), is launching its new "Basketball For Good" digital platform today. The Foundation uses the power of basketball to initiate positive social change globally, contributing to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.  Following our recent inclusion in the United Nations Sports for Climate Action Framework, this is another aspect where FIBA is aligning with the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Agenda 2020 that endorses sustainability goals.

IPC to create and support Refugee Paralympic Team at Tokyo

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has confirmed plans to send up to six athletes to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games as part of a Refugee Paralympic Team (RPT). The IPC will work with its commercial partners and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to create awareness of the plight faced by refugee athletes and send a message of hope to the almost 80 million forcibly displaced worldwide.

Foundation Board meets and discusses Basketball For Good projects


MIES (Switzerland) – FIBA’s Foundation (IBF) Board met yesterday in a video conference for its third meeting of the 2019 – 2023 term of office to discuss current and future Foundation matters. Board members from 9 countries and across 7 time zones participated.

MIES (Switzerland) – The International Basketball Foundation (IBF) has partnered with the Gen Z social enterprise app Goodwall to facilitate access for its beneficiaries to Goodwall’s Better together global online program.
