Philip Hutchinson

I am a commercial litigation solicitor in the commercial disputes team based in Birmingham. My role involves providing legal advice to a wide variety of both public and private sector clients across the UK and abroad. This ranges from complex fraud investigation work to high value breach of contract claims and shareholder disputes. My ability to speak German also allows me to advise clients in German speaking countries on litigious matters.

I also work in the wider sports law sector at Mills & Reeve. Our specialist team has experience of providing legal advice within a wide range of sports, with a particularly strong reputation in football. I have represented both high profile sportsmen and women, clubs and organisations, with a particular focus on football and rugby players.

I have also undertaken an in-house secondment at the UK's leading automotive company. This has allowed me to develop significant expertise in the automotive industry.

I pride myself on providing practical and commercial advice that is tailored specifically to my client's needs. Litigation is both a formidable and testing process for even the most experienced of company and a key focus of my role is therefore to reach an early settlement that is favourable to my client. Even when formal litigation proceedings cannot be avoided, our litigation team is vastly experienced in dealing with high value claims that progress all the way through to trial.

The team is known for a strong national presence, with notable specialisms in fraud, shareholder and product liability disputes, as well as commercial litigation in the oil and gas sector.
