John is a sports and media lawyer at McFaddens LLP and a Director at sports agency DBW. After reading Law at the University of Liverpool, he spent a year lecturing on the Law of Contract at the Université de Bordeaux IV, before training at the largest national law firm in the UK, Eversheds LLP.
Gaining experience of media law and employment law, John was then offered a position at Eversheds’ office in Paris where he worked towards building the firm’s international practice. In France, he built-up a strong contact base of players and clubs in Le Championnat. Through his work in Bordeaux, Brussels and Paris, John has developed strong business French.
John has developed a civil litigation practice specialising in commercial disputes and sports law. He has advocacy experience in the High Court and various tribunals. John also has excellent knowledge of FA disciplinary proceedings and FIFA regulations, both in respect to players and clubs.
As a solicitor registered with the Football Association, John also focuses on placing European, African and South American footballers in the English Premier League. He has conducted numerous loan and permanent transfers, to clubs in the Premier League, Championship, League One and abroad, including the transfers of a former Manchester United goalkeeper and an Argentinian international. John also works with clubs, assisting in the transfer of players in France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Denmark, Greece, Turkey and the Premier League.
