Ben Seghir suspended for 4 matches
Neuchâtel Xamax FCS's appeal against Salim Bem Seghir has been partially rejected. The attacking midfielder has been suspended for four matches.
Neuchâtel Xamax FCS's appeal against the five-match suspension imposed on Salim Ben Seghir has been partially overturned by the chairman of the SFL's Disciplinary Committee, acting as the sole judge. He reduced the initial sanction imposed by the SFL's competition disciplinary judge to four matches, deeming that "prior provocation can be considered."
The French midfielder was sanctioned for spitting at Nicolas Hasler on February 22 in Vaduz , based on video footage. Such a retroactive decision is possible because the incident was not witnessed by the referees present at the stadium.
This decision is final for the Swiss Football League. Salim Ben Seghir will therefore miss the matches against FC Vaduz, FC Wil, FC Stade Nyonnais, and Yverdon Sport. He could return to action on April 26 against AC Bellinzona.
