The ITA reports that athlete Aymane Takzima has accepted a 3-year ban for his breach of anti-doping rules
The International Testing Agency (ITA), on behalf of the World Karate Federation (WKF), reports that athlete Aymane Takzima from Morocco has accepted a three-year period of ineligibility for violating the prohibition against participation during his provisional suspension and ineligibility.
The ITA, on behalf of the WKF, confirms that athlete Aymane Takzima has agreed¹ to the consequences imposed for his breach of the prohibition against participation when serving a provisional suspension and period of ineligibility.
On 13 April 2023, the athlete had accepted a three-year period of ineligibility from 23 December 2022 until 22 December 2025 for committing an anti-doping rule violation under article 2.1/2.2 of the WKF anti-doping rules.
The ITA later found that during his provisional suspension and period of ineligibility, the athlete had acted as a coach and participated in various sporting events, and the WKF initiated a procedure against him.
The athlete did not challenge the breach of the anti-doping rules and agreed with the consequences as proposed by the ITA. Accordingly, the case was resolved through an acceptance of consequences.
The credit for provisional suspension received between 23 December 2022 and 13 April 2023 was revoked and a new period of ineligibility of 3 years imposed. The initial period of ineligibility of three years is therefore effective from 13 April 2023 until 12 April 2026, whereas the additional period of ineligibility is effective from 13 April 2026 until 12 April 2029. In addition, all individual competitive results obtained from 23 December 2022 onwards are disqualified, with forfeiture of medals, points, and prizes.
The decision may be appealed to the appeals division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport by the parties with a right of appeal in accordance with Article 13.2.3 of the WKF anti-doping rules.
The ITA will not comment further on this case.
