The ITA reports that rider Junhong Lin has accepted a 4-year period of ineligibility for her anti-doping rule violation
The International Testing Agency (ITA), leading an independent anti-doping program on behalf of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), reports that Chinese track rider Junhong Lin has accepted a four-year period of ineligibility for the presence of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS).
The ITA, on behalf of the UCI, confirms that the Chinese track rider Junhong Lin has agreed¹ to the consequences imposed for her anti-doping rule violation (ADRV).
The rider tested positive for the exogenous origin of adiols in two samples collected in-competition on 16 and 29 January 2016 during the 2016 UCI Track World Cup III in Hong Kong and the Asian Track and Para-Cycling Championships in Izu, Japan, respectively. As previously reported by the ITA,² the rider’s samples were re-analysed as part of the long-term sample storage and re-analysis program led by the ITA on behalf of the UCI.
These substances are listed under class S1.1 Anabolic Androgenic Steroids of the World Anti‑Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. They are prohibited at all times (in‑ and out‑of‑competition) and are classified as non‑specified substances. These substances have potent muscle-building and strength-increasing properties.
When notified of the case, the rider was provisionally suspended with immediate effect.
The rider did not challenge her ADRV and agreed with the consequences applicable under the UCI anti-doping rules as proposed by the ITA. Accordingly, the case was resolved via an acceptance of consequences.
The period of ineligibility is effective from 7 October 2025 until 6 October 2029. Additionally, all the rider’s individual competitive results, including those obtained at the 2016 UCI Track World Cup III in Hong Kong and the Asian Track and Para-Cycling Championships in Izu, Japan, are disqualified from the date of the first sample collection (16 January 2016) until the start of the provisional suspension (7 October 2025).
The decision may be challenged before the appeals division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) by the parties with a right of appeal in accordance with article 13.2.3 of the UCI anti-doping rules.
The ITA will not comment further on this case.
