Weightlifting athlete sanctioned for 4 years
Sport Integrity Australia acknowledges that the Australian Weightlifting Federation has imposed a four-year period of Ineligibility on athlete Olivia Kelly
Sport Integrity Australia acknowledges that the Australian Weightlifting Federation has imposed a four-year period of Ineligibility on athlete Olivia Kelly for the Presence and Use of a Prohibited Substance and its Metabolite.
Ms Kelly returned an Adverse Analytical Finding from an Out of-Competition doping control test on 14 June 2025. Ms Kelly’s sample was analysed at the Australian Sports Drug Testing Laboratory, part of the National Measurement Institute, and the presence of Di-hydroxy LGD-4033, a metabolite of LGD-4033 (Ligandrol), was detected.
LGD-4033 (Ligandrol) is listed under Class S1.2 (Other Anabolic Agents) of the World Anti-Doping Code – International Standard – Prohibited List 2025.). LGD-4033 (Ligandrol) is classed as a non-Specified Substance and prohibited at all times.
Under Article 10.2.1 of the Australian National Anti-doping Policy 2021 (ANADP), for a first Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) for Presence and Use of a non-Specified Substance, the sanction is four (4) years, unless the Athlete can establish that the ADRV was unintentional. It has been determined that on the balance of probabilities, Ms Kelly has not established that the ADRVs committed were not intentional.
Ms Kelly was subject to a mandatory Provisional Suspension since 31 July 2025 and has complied with these requirements. In accordance with Article 10.13.2.1 of the ANADP, Ms Kelly shall receive credit for the period of Provisional Suspension already served.
The Australian Weightlifting Federation has imposed a four-year period of Ineligibility on Ms Kelly (backdated to the date of sample collection) in accordance with Article 10.13.1 of the ANADP for delays not attributable to the Athlete commencing on 14 June 2025.
In accordance with Article 10.10 of the ANADP, any medals, points or prizes Ms Kelly obtained from 14 June 2025 onwards, shall be forfeited, including the disqualification of any results.
As such, Ms Kelly is ineligible to participate in any sports that have adopted a World Anti-Doping Code compliant anti-doping policy between 14 June 2025 and 11:59pm 13 June 2029.
She is also not permitted to compete in a non-signatory professional league, or event organised by a non-signatory International or National level event organisation.
