Portsmouth hopes of generating income by selling players dashed by lack of interest

With a range of creditors ready to demand payment on various debts, Portsmouth had hoped to push through deals for as many as four key players before the transfer window had even opened.

Fabio Capello's squad put on drugs hit list and David Beckham won't escape random FA tests even if he is in Italy

The Football Association have agreed the names of 10 to 20 England players who will have to be available for random drug tests 365 days a year, the new head of UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has revealed.

Andy Parkinson, the chief executive of UKAD, said however the players themselves had yet to be informed.
