The ITA acknowledges the IMMAF Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee decision sanctioning MMA athlete Umronjon Mansurov

International Testing Authority (ITA)

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s (IMMAF) Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee has confirmed that Tajik mixed martial arts athlete Umronjon Mansurov committed an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) for the presence of meldonium and sanctioned him with a four-year period of ineligibility, as well as the disqualification of all competitive results obtained from 30 October 2022 onwards.

On 30 November 2022, the IMMAF notified the athlete that a sample collected from him on 30 October 2022 during an in-competition anti-doping control at the 2022 IMMAF Asian Championships had returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF)¹ for meldonium.

Meldonium is prohibited under the WADA Prohibited List as S4. Hormone and Metabolic Modulators. It is also prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition) and classified as a non-specified substance. Meldonium may enhance sports performance by improving endurance and recovery through increased oxygen uptake and energy metabolism.

When notified of the case, the athlete was provisionally suspended with immediate effect. However, the athlete did not respect the conditions of the provisional suspension and was therefore not given any credit for the provisional suspension served.

Following the results management process conducted by the International Testing Agency (ITA) on behalf of the IMMAF, the matter has been referred for adjudication to the IMMAF Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee on 1 September 2025. After considering the parties’ written submissions and evidence, on 22 September 2026, the Panel issued its decision concluding that the athlete had committed an ADRV for the presence of a prohibited substance in accordance with article 2.1 of the IMMAF anti-doping rules. As a result, the Panel imposed a four-year period of ineligibility on Mr Mansurov commencing on 22 September 2026. Additionally, the athlete’s results obtained at the 2022 IMMAF Asian Championships are disqualified, together with all competitive results obtained from 30 October 2022 onwards.

The athlete and the relevant stakeholders have a right to appeal the Panel’s decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in accordance with article 13.2 of the IMMAF anti-doping rules.

The ITA will not comment further on this case.
