The 2020 changes to FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players

On 13 February, in Circular letter nº 1709[1], FIFA communicated new and important amendments to its Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP)[2], some of which will positively affect the rights of training clubs.

This article explains the main changes and analyses the potential day-to-day effects for clubs and players.  Specifically, it looks at:

  • Bridge transfers
  • Training compensation
  • Solidarity Mechanism
  • Minors
  • International Transfer Certificate (ITC)
